Coming Out of Left Field

What a week!

For the past several days, I've been alternately stretched to the max at work and spoiled rotten outside of it. The former I haven't liked very much, except that it makes it much easier to pay the bills. The latter has been quite enjoyable, with several wonderful birthday gifts and treats from my sweetie. For the house she got a combination DVD/VCR player, and for me a David Ortiz jersey and a Patriots jigsaw puzzle. My wife really knows me. :) I also got some nice presents from my friends and family. My brother even suppressed his worst instincts (as he admitted later) and sent me a book about the Red Sox instead of the third and fourth "Alien" movies. With all this pampering, maybe I should have birthdays more often.

Speaking of birthdays and the Red Sox, many happy returns of the day to Josh Beckett, who turns 26 today. Right now the Sox are on course to give him a win. Hopefully he won't be getting a blister as well.
