Proof that my boss's boss does not read my blog

The other day at work, a co-worker was talking to one of the higher-ups about the Red Sox. Mark Loretta's name came up, and my co-worker asked out loud, "Where did he end up going? Back to San Diego?"

Without thinking, I answered, "Nope, Houston."

My boss's boss looked at me, surprised. "Wow ... I had no idea you were into sports. That's really impressive."

Impressive? It'd never occurred to me. But maybe people expect short Asian women with glasses to watch the Calculus Channel instead of NESN. Guess I better start wearing my Red Sox sweatshirt to work more often -- while carrying around a copy of The Sporting News or one of our baseball books.

Getting out from under

It's been a week, and I'm just now feeling able to breathe again ... literally. Right after our move, which took us until very late last Sunday, we both started getting major allergy symptoms, thanks to the pollen as well as to the dust from all our stuff. Then towards the end of the week I got hit by a nasty cold and spent the weekend in bed. I even took yesterday off, which not only gave me one more day to recover but allowed me to watch Ellen DeGeneres, who was doing the show from her bed after hurting her back. Hope she was as comfy as I was!
